| Bodrum Castle built by the Knights of the Crusades in the 1500's one of the largest castles of it's time. With 5 national towers. The castle now contains the largest underwater archaeology museum in Europe. | Bodrum is a cosmopolitan Town with a wide range of shops including names you will recognise from home such as Marks & Spencer. it has a weekly market where you can haggle for bargains, a port which offers daily ferries to Kos [remember you are entering another county you will need your passport]. The marina arcade contains modern boutiques whilst the town its self has a wealth of back streets, you never know what you are going to find around the next corner. The harbour front is lined with restaurants and bars which offer nightlife stretching into the early hours. Bodrum together with Gumbet [so close they're almost joined] provide the party life of the Bodrum peninsular. | ||
| Gumusluk. situated on the site of ancient Myndos. Where the remains of 2000 year old buildings can be seen in the shallow seas. Walk across the partially submerged causeway to Rabbit Island. Located at the western tip of the peninsular and famed for it's sea food restaurants, it's best to check prices before dining. Well worth a days visit you can explore Rabbit Island located within the bay. Once a Roman centre the remains are dotted throughout the hillside and coast. the Harbour is a regular stop of for Gullet Cruises along the coast. | ||
| Dedeman Aqua park situated at Ortakent on the outskirts of Bodrum. The local travel agents run excursions here but you can easily catch a dolmus or drive there. there are English speaking staff on site. On arrival you pay to enter and for a locker having placed your valuables away spend the day on adrenaline pumping slides, relaxing in the pools or sunbathing. there are several restaurants throughout the complex serving snack type foods and drinks. | |

| Scuba diving is popular on the peninsular. There are a number of agencies operating from Akyarlar, Bodrum, Gumbet, Turgetries who offer mostly scenic dives. The is life in this part of the Aegean I would expect to see Moray/Grouper on most dives. Octopus/Barracuda on a regular basis. | Shop in the weekly [Thursday] market in Yalikavak for fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, cheese, spices, Turkish delight and pastries. Then cross the road to the textile and gift market. | ||
| Yalikavak has a long beach which sweeps around from the old harbour. it is faced by numerous cafe's and bars selling drinks, meals, snacks and ice cream. The main town centre streets are shaded from the summer sun. There is a sea front promenade running from the main town to the Port Bodrum Marina. Along which there is a children's play area. | ||
| AKYARLAR - situated on the south of the peninsular is an fishing port which now welcomes tourists, Perla Scuba operate from there offering diving trips and courses they will collect from Sema Kent if you don't have transport | ||
| Turgutreis, Gundogan, Torba, Bitez are all fishing villages now welcoming visitors. Each has it's own individual feel, local shops, restaurants, bars & cafe's. | ||
ORTAKENT situated in the centre of the peninsular and landlocked. Ortakent is located at a fork in the main road situated on which are "Metro" a large cash and carry where you can buy just about anything [requires day ticket obtained from counter on arrival]. and "Kippa" a large out of town supermarket where you can buy everything from food stuffs to clothes and electrical goods. | ||
BODRUM AIRPORT Bodrum Milas airport [BJV] is located just in-land of the peninsular and provides flights both within Turkey, but also international flights to many British regional airports including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Doncaster, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Gatwick, Glasgow, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Stansted, Teeside. The terminal building has a cafe area as well as duty free shops. Turkey is located outside the EU so duty free shopping is still available. | ||
